Gstaad Outdoors’ freeride days have been designed for guests who already dispose of some basic skills in backcountry skiing and are looking for professional advice to improve their skills or for competent guides to explore the backcountry around Gstaad.
Our freeride days in Gstaad are suitable for skiers of all performance classes. The group size is limited to a maximum of 8 persons, the minimum number of participants is 3 persons.
A ski safari with Gstaad Outdoors is the perfect opportunity to enjoy moments of tranquility in the snow covered mountain terrain. Far away from the populated groomed slopes, we ski over untouched snow fields and through beautiful forests. We take our guests to ideal terrain to improve their powder skiing skills and to experience exceptional days in the backcountry.
The Gstaad Outdoors Ski Safari is a freeride tour through the various mountains in the region. From our starting point in Saanenmöser, we explore on the first day the powder terrain on the Hornberg and the Rinderberg near Zweisimmen; we enjoy long descents from the Parwengen and Gantlauenen peaks to St. Stephan and from the Horneggli to Schönried. The day ends with a long descent from the Huggeli to Saanenmöser.
Our second day begins again in Saanenmöser. We ski from the Hornberg to Gstaad and continue to the ski area on the Eggli. Here we will explore the backcountry between Saanen and the Chalberhöni and also enjoy the challenging descents from the Videmanette to Rougemont.
Our program can easily be adapted to the skill level of the participants and their skiing preferences.
Gstaad offers many options for excellent ski touring. Most of our tours are easy and therefore ideally suited for skiers with limited experience in ski touring and offer the possibility to spend a relaxed day on the mountain.
The ski tours of Gstaad Outdoors usually include two short ascents with extended traversing from village to village and over mountain ridges with great views of the area. Our ski tours are a form of “snow trekking”.
Our preferred terrain is situated between the Rellerli in Schönried and the Oberegg near Boltigen. In this area, we can use cable cars and buses to shorten the ascents and also quickly return to the starting point by train.
For guests who hesitate to book our full training program, we offer a short 2-day introduction version. During these two days, participants will be taught the basics of backcountry skiing and will learn to make their first turns outside of groomed slopes. The program schedule for the 2-day course is identical with our 4 or 6-day program and includes the option to extend to the full version on short notice.
Trial courses always take place on Monday and Tuesday, and the participants can decide at the last moment whether they would like to extend the course for a further 2 or 4 days.
